WHAT YOU’LL DO
Provides support to the Local/Territory operations personnel in all areas of operations and to provide engineering design and project management of major gas main expansion projects.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Experienced Engineer which independently evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications; receives supervision on new aspects of non-routine assignments; using prescribed methods, performs specific portions of a broader assignment of an Senior Engineer; responsibility for training, orientation and assigning work to other employees; may schedule/coordinate projects with limited supervision and review; may prepare engineering analyses, write specifications and reports on an independent basis.
- Develop standard designs and drawings as assigned for approval by others.
- Assist in the design and construction of the company’s larger volume gas facilities, to include: gas flow/process development, equipment specifications and RFQ, Material specifications and RFQ, Cost estimation, creation of design and construction drawings, oversight of permit acquisitions, coordination with other engineering disciplines or outside engineering firms, preconstruction planning and scheduling, recommend selection of contractors based on bids, coordination with contractors , construction inspection, completion of post project documentation and transmittals, receiving materials and services in SAP and invoice payments.
- Provides Synergee modeling results to Local/Territory operations and Fuels Management staff.
- Support Local/Territory operations on engineering specific issues as needed.
- Travel throughout the Company’s service area to provide support as needed.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned by Manager, including gathering information and providing feedback and updates to department management on engineering and operations issues, and updates on pipeline supplier issues.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Must Haves:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited college/university.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience as an Engineer; Experience in the natural gas industry.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, good written and oral communications skills, knowledge of engineering procedures, ability to read and understand plans and alignment sheets, ability to problem solve and to analyze problems logically, good judgment, must be willing to perform in emergency situations, knowledgeable of all relevant federal and state regulations as they pertain to natural gas distribution and transmission, knowledge of piping design and layout, ability to recommend alternatives in real-time on job sites as needed, proficient in Synergee network modeling software (or equivalent).
Nice-to-Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering.
- Pass the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Minimum of 4 years of related work experience in the natural gas industry; Experience in AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project.
